Summary for the Accountant:
Our client, headquartered in downtown Indianapolis, IN is a leader in the care services industry. They have multiple locations in Central Indiana and recently celebrated their 140th anniversary as a family-owned firm. They are currently seeking a skilled Accountant to join their dynamic team in the care services industry. As an integral member of their finance department, you will spearhead the monthly accounting close process, uphold impeccable accounting standards, and provide valuable insights through comprehensive financial reporting.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities for the Accountant:

  1. Conduct Monthly Accounting Close: Take charge of the monthly accounting close for designated entities, meticulously preparing journal entries, posting general ledger transactions, and delivering financial statements promptly.

  2. Prepare Financial Reports Package: Compile a detailed monthly financial reports package, offering insights into operational performance against budgetary targets, ensuring timely delivery as per scheduled deadlines.

  3. Reconcile Balance Sheet Accounts: Perform thorough reconciliation of critical balance sheet accounts such as cash, accounts receivable, accounts payable, and other assets and liabilities, promptly resolving any discrepancies in collaboration with relevant departments.

  4. Assist in Fixed Asset Management: Contribute to maintaining accurate fixed asset valuations and depreciation schedules, ensuring compliance with established standards.

  5. Prepare Year-End Workpapers: Collaborate in preparing year-end workpapers for audit purposes, adhering to prescribed timelines and industry standards.

  6. Coordinate Year-End Inventory: Facilitate the year-end physical inventory process, ensuring seamless reconciliation and accuracy.

  7. Provide Operational Support: Offer operational support as directed by the VP, leveraging your financial expertise to drive informed decision-making across departments.

Qualifications for the Accountant:

  • Bachelor of Science degree in accounting or finance is required.
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in accounting close and financial reporting, demonstrating a strong understanding of income statement and balance sheet administration.
  • Proficiency in PC-based accounting systems is essential.
